Move the Runner
Let Us Run the Race Marked Out for Us

Who We Are
Move the Runner is a student-centered, family-focused, and God-directed nonprofit that seeks to end cycles of poverty in under-resourced families through youth sports and higher education. It is our vision that every talented student (and their family) will be able to participate in travel sports regardless of their ability to pay and understand their unique pathway to higher education. We seek to operate with humility, excellence, and transparency to demystify the systems that have isolated those that can benefit most while providing hope for a different future than any generation in their family has seen.
The mission of Move the Runner is to honor God, reduce barriers to recreational sports programs, and provide higher education consulting to talented youth athletes. It is our hope to transform talent and passion into top potential and abundant opportunity by coupling low-income students and their families with financial and educational resources that increase access to elite environments.
Our guiding principles are Faith, Field, and Foundation. At Move the Runner, we believe that all Runners should:
- have FAITH in your God-given talent and God’s good plan for your life.
- respect the FIELD and run the race marked out for you.
- recognize education as the FOUNDATION for change and embrace it as your right and your privilege.
What We Do
Here at Move the Runner, we work to provide access for young athletes to explore their faith, achieve college readiness, and become accomplished athletes. Since our founding in 2020, we have connected athletes with resources, coaches, and funding to grow their faith and enhance their athletic and collegiate preparation.
Our ultimate goal is for each Runner to be provided financial resources for training and participation in competitive sports and personalized higher education counseling. Sponsorship for sports team participation can include team membership expenses, coaching, and/or tournament fees. Higher education counseling starts as soon as the Runner joins the program regardless of age. Individualized pathways (beginning at current age) are developed upon acceptance into the program.
We exist to serve a diverse group of students including those that live in Section 8 housing and/or neighborhoods zoned to Title I schools, have been/are in foster care, are first generation college students, and/or reside in homes where recreational sports participation is a luxury that their family cannot afford. We want to hear their story to determine a student’s fit for our program. So please apply or refer someone!

College Coaching
College coaching (also known as college consulting or counseling) is simply college planning guidance to help students achieve acceptance into the college of their choice.
Our program is not intended to replace the important relationship a Runner has with their school counselor and parent or guardian. However, we recognize how overextended school counselors are, how little training they sometimes receive in college counseling, and how expensive the cost for independent college consultants.
Our goal for each Runner is to help him or her find schools where they can be happy and thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and, hopefully, athletically. The college search and application process can be both time-consuming and overwhelming unless you have a plan and resources. It is our intent to reduce the anxiety involved in this process by providing support in any way that we can.
Therefore, we provide on-demand(ish) college coaching via chat, video conference, text, phone, or email.

⚾️ Athletic Development 🥎
Not even the most talented athletes can perform at an elite level without considerable training and practice. For youth athletes to increase in their performance, it is critical that they receive high-quality instruction. Families often pursue private lessons or premier coaching in Select Baseball or Softball participation to meet the demands. However, these can be expensive options, and thus, not accessible for many families.
Select Baseball and Softball used to be a niche experience reserved primarily for elite players in baseball-rich areas like Texas and California. However, it is now almost a necessity for talented players to develop their skills against the best competition available.
Involvement in Select baseball or softball is between $500 and $2,500 per year at MINIMUM. Typically, the more focused the travel program is on developing its players for college, the more expensive the program is going to be.
Move the Runner exists to reduce barriers and offer financial support for participation in this level of training and competition.
